CompositionInapure 5 Tablet is used to prevent chest pain from chronic stable angina and to treat chronic heart failure in adults who have a raised resting heart rate. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ivabradine 5mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called If channel inhibitors.
This medicine works on the heart's natural pacemaker to slow the heart rate, easing the heart's workload with little effect on blood pressure. It is often used when beta blockers cannot be taken or have not slowed the heart enough. Take it daily with breakfast and dinner, as prescribed, and attend all heart-rate checks.
A heart-healthy diet, regular gentle activity, keeping a healthy weight and not smoking help protect the heart. Be careful when driving if you notice light flashes in your vision, especially at night.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or could become pregnant and are not using effective contraception, or if you are breastfeeding. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a very slow resting heart rate, atrial fibrillation or other rhythm problems, low blood pressure, recent stroke, severe liver disease, or eye disease of the retina, and about all other medicines you take, especially heart rhythm medicines, diltiazem, verapamil and certain antibiotics or antifungals. Avoid grapefruit juice. Seek medical help if you notice a very slow or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, fainting or palpitations. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
