Intaglip-M Tablet is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, together with diet and exercise, when one medicine is not enough. It is a combination medicine containing vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide.
Vildagliptin helps the body release more insulin after meals and reduces the release of glucagon, while metformin lowers the sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Take it daily with meals, as prescribed, to reduce stomach upset.
Eating a balanced diet, limiting sugary foods and drinks, being active and keeping a healthy weight are essential. Check your blood sugar as advised.
Your doctor will check your liver function before and during treatment, as vildagliptin can rarely affect the liver. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, heart failure, a history of pancreatitis, or drink alcohol heavily, and about other medicines you take. Your doctor may pause it before surgery or scans using contrast dye, and if you become dehydrated or very unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea. Long-term metformin use can lower vitamin B12, so your doctor may check it. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe stomach pain spreading to the back, or blisters on the skin. Seek urgent help for unusual muscle pain, fast breathing, stomach pain, feeling very cold or extreme tiredness, which can rarely signal a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
