Iopar SR Capsule is used to manage glaucoma by reducing intraocular pressure to prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss. It also has off-label uses for managing altitude sickness, edema (fluid retention), and controlling epileptic seizures by regulating fluid balance.

Here's how you should take Iopar-SR Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew or open the capsule as it interferes with the slow release properties of this medicine.

• Take your doses at evenly spaced times throughout the day. It's best to take your last dose in the early evening to avoid waking up at night due to increased urination.

• Always follow your doctor's instructions on how to take this medicine for optimal results.

Iopar-SR Capsule contains Acetazolamide (250 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibition: Acetazolamide works by inhibiting an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase in your body. This enzyme plays a key role in forming aqueous humour, the fluid that fills the front part of your eye.

• Reduction in Aqueous Humour Production: By blocking the activity of carbonic anhydrase, Acetazolamide effectively reduces the production of aqueous humour in the eye.

• Decreases Intraocular Pressure: As less fluid is produced, intraocular pressure decreases. This reduction in pressure is crucial in managing glaucoma and preventing damage to the optic nerve.
