Iopar-SR Capsule is used for the following:

• Managing glaucoma: This condition causes increased pressure inside your eyes, which can damage the optic nerve, leading to vision loss.

• Reducing intraocular pressure: This refers to the pressure inside your eyes.

• Off-label use for altitude sickness management: This condition is caused by rapid exposure to low amounts of oxygen at high elevation.

• - Off-label use for managing edema: This is a condition characterised by an excess of watery fluid collecting in the cavities or tissues of the body.

• - Off-label use for epilepsy seizures management: Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness.

Here's how you should take Iopar-SR Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew or open the capsule as it interferes with the slow release properties of this medicine.

• Take your doses at evenly spaced times throughout the day. It's best to take your last dose in the early evening to avoid waking up at night due to increased urination.

• Always follow your doctor's instructions on how to take this medicine for optimal results.

Iopar-SR Capsule is taken orally.

Iopar-SR Capsule contains Acetazolamide (250 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibition: Acetazolamide works by inhibiting an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase in your body. This enzyme plays a key role in forming aqueous humour, the fluid that fills the front part of your eye.

• Reduction in Aqueous Humour Production: By blocking the activity of carbonic anhydrase, Acetazolamide effectively reduces the production of aqueous humour in the eye.

• Decreases Intraocular Pressure: As less fluid is produced, intraocular pressure decreases. This reduction in pressure is crucial in managing glaucoma and preventing damage to the optic nerve.

• Store Iopar-SR Capsule at room temperature, ideally below 30 degrees Celsius.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.

• Ensure the medicine is stored in its original packaging for optimum safety.

• For safety reasons, keep it out of reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before use and avoid using if expired.

• Since Iopar-SR Capsule is used to manage glaucoma, maintain a diet rich in antioxidants. Including fruits like oranges, strawberries and vegetables like spinach and kale can aid in eye health.

• Regular physical activity such as walking or cycling helps improve blood circulation to the eyes, which can help manage glaucoma by reducing eye pressure.
