Jardiance Met 12.5mg/500mg Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults when metformin alone is not enough, and it can help reduce the risk of heart-failure hospital stays in people with heart disease. It is not for type 1 diabetes.
It contains empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor that helps the kidneys remove excess glucose in the urine, and metformin, which improves the response to insulin and reduces the glucose the liver makes.
Take it with food as prescribed, and stay well hydrated during treatment.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems or repeated genital or urinary infections before use. Seek urgent help for nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, severe tiredness or difficulty breathing, as, rarely, this class can cause diabetic ketoacidosis even when blood sugar looks normal.
