Keppra 1000mg Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of partial onset seizures in adults and children from 1 month of age.

• Control of abnormal electrical activity in neurons associated with epilepsy.

• Adjunctive therapy, alongside other antiepileptic medicines, to better manage seizures.

Here are some instructions for taking Keppra 1000mg Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Do not chew or crush the tablet as this may result in a bitter taste.

• This medicine can be taken either on an empty stomach or with food.

• Follow your doctor's advice closely regarding the frequency and timing of doses.

• Avoid altering your dose without first consulting your doctor.

• Do not abruptly stop taking this medicine as it could worsen your seizures.

Keppra 1000mg Tablet is taken orally.

Keppra 1000mg Tablet contains levetiracetam (1000 mg), which acts on your body through the following mechanisms:

• Interaction with SV2A: Levetiracetam binds to a specific site on nerve cells in your brain known as SV2A.

• Suppression of Abnormal Neuronal Activity: By attaching to SV2A, levetiracetam suppresses the abnormal electrical activity of neurons that leads to seizure propagation.

• Reduction of Seizure Propagation: Through its binding to SV2A and subsequent suppression of abnormal neuronal activity, levetiracetam effectively reduces the spread of seizure activity within your brain.

• Store Keppra 1000mg Tablet in a cool and dry place, ideally between 20 to 25°C.

• Keep it protected from light and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Make sure you use Keppra 1000mg Tablet before its expiry date.

• Staying hydrated is key when managing epilepsy, as dehydration can trigger seizures. So, make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day.

• Try to maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Some people with epilepsy find that certain types of food might trigger seizures; if you notice any patterns, consult your doctor for dietary adjustments.
