Lacoset 150 Tablet 10 is used to manage partial-onset seizures. It is a single-ingredient anticonvulsant medicine containing lacosamide.

This medicine controls focal (partial-onset) seizures with or without secondary generalization. It is also used as add-on therapy for primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures in patients with epilepsy.

Before starting, tell your doctor about your medical conditions and allergies. Tell the doctor about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Attend any monitoring appointments advised by your doctor. Report persistent or serious side effects to your doctor. Do not stop taking or using the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.

Uses of Lacoset 150 Tablet 10 are:

Partial-Onset Seizures: Controls focal (partial-onset) seizures with or without secondary generalization.
Primary Generalised Tonic-Clonic Seizures: Used as add-on therapy for primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures in patients with epilepsy.

Here are the instructions to follow while taking Lacoset 150 Tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Aim to take your medicine at the same time each day for the best results.
Do not stop taking this medication without speaking to your doctor first.

Lacoset 150 Tablet is taken orally.

Lacoset 150 Tablet 10 may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Lacoset 150 Tablet 10:

Nervous system: dizziness, headache, fatigue, sleepiness.
Digestive: nausea, vomiting.

Enhances slow inactivation of sodium channels: Lacosamide selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels. These are channels in the neuron cells that, when overly active, can lead to seizures. By enhancing their slow inactivation, lacosamide prevents these channels from firing too rapidly and repeatedly, thus preventing seizures.
Binds to CRMP-2: Lacosamide also binds to a specific site on the Collapsin Response Mediator Protein-2 (CRMP-2), a protein involved in neuronal growth and differentiation. The exact impact of this interaction on the medicine's antiepileptic effects is not clear.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while taking Lacoset 150 Tablet if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before starting this medicine.

Breastfeeding
