It is also used to trigger a period in women with low progesterone and to help manage abnormal uterine bleeding.
It contains medroxyprogesterone, a progestogen that acts like the natural hormone progesterone. It works by regulating the build-up and shedding of the womb lining to steady the menstrual cycle.
