CompositionMeprate Tablet is used to treat menstrual problems such as absent periods (secondary amenorrhoea) and abnormal uterine bleeding caused by hormone imbalance. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing medroxyprogesterone acetate, which belongs to a class of medicines called progestogens (female hormones).
This medicine is also used to manage endometriosis and irregular or heavy periods, and to help bring on a period in women with low progesterone. It works in a similar way to the natural hormone progesterone to regulate the womb lining. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually for a set number of days in each cycle.
Keeping a record of your periods, eating a balanced diet and managing stress can support hormonal health.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have had blood clots or a stroke, liver disease, breast cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or depression, and about other medicines you take. It is not a contraceptive. Seek medical help straight away if you have pain or swelling in one leg, chest pain, sudden breathlessness, a severe headache or changes in vision. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
