Mero 1g Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat severe and complex bacterial infections in adults and children. It is prescribed for serious conditions such as severe pneumonia, complicated abdominal infections, complicated urinary tract infections, bloodstream infections (sepsis), and bacterial meningitis.
It contains meropenem, an antibiotic belonging to the carbapenem class. It is administered directly into a vein (intravenously) as an injection or infusion by a qualified healthcare professional in a hospital setting. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the infection and is determined by your attending doctor.
Hospital-based supportive measures, such as adequate hydration, regular vital sign monitoring, and proper infection control protocols, form an essential part of managing severe bacterial infections during inpatient care.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease, brain disorders, seizures (fits), or severe allergic reactions to antibiotics such as penicillins or cephalosporins. Tell your care team if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Report any severe watery diarrhoea, unusual bleeding, or sudden skin rash immediately.
