Mesahenz 1200 Tablet is used to manage ulcerative colitis, a long-term condition causing inflammation and ulcers in the large intestine and rectum. It contains mesalazine, an anti-inflammatory medicine that reduces gut inflammation and relieves symptoms such as pain and diarrhoea.
This medicine is also used to maintain remission and help prevent relapses of ulcerative colitis. It may also be prescribed off-label for Crohn's disease in selected patients, another type of inflammatory bowel disease. Take it by mouth as directed by your doctor, and continue taking it for the duration prescribed, even during periods when you have no symptoms.
Eating smaller, more frequent meals, staying well hydrated and avoiding foods that trigger your symptoms, such as spicy or high-fibre foods during flare-ups, can help support better bowel health alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, before starting this medicine. Report symptoms such as worsening stomach pain, blood in your stools, unusual bruising or a rash to your doctor promptly.
