Metrogyl-M Ointment is used for treating bacterial skin infections and related inflammatory conditions. It is commonly applied in cases of impetigo, where painful sores and blisters develop on the skin. The ointment also supports healing of infected wounds and ulcers and helps reduce inflammatory skin changes seen in rosacea, improving redness and skin irritation.

Metrogyl-M Ointment is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients:

• Metronidazole (2% w/w): This antibiotic penetrates bacterial cells and damages their DNA, causing cell death. It's particularly effective against anaerobic bacteria.

• Mupirocin (2% w/w): This topical antibiotic binds reversibly to a specific enzyme in bacteria called isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. At concentrations achieved through topical application, mupirocin is effectively bactericidal.

Together, these two antibiotics work in unison to halt bacterial growth and spread of the infection.

• Store Metrogyl-M Ointment at a temperature below 25°C.
