Monit-30-SR Tablet is a sustained-release medicine used to prevent angina, a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving oxygen supply and reducing heart workload to prevent pain episodes during daily activities.
It contains isosorbide mononitrate, a nitrate vasodilator. Swallow the tablet whole as prescribed; do not chew or crush it. This medicine is intended for long-term chest pain prevention and must not be used to treat an acute, sudden angina attack.
Heart-healthy lifestyle habits enhance treatment outcomes. These include consuming a diet low in saturated fats and salt, staying active within medical advice, quitting smoking, and managing stress effectively.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, severe anaemia, recent head injury, or liver problems. Never combine this medicine with erectile dysfunction treatments (such as sildenafil), as this can cause a critical drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you experience severe headaches or persistent dizziness.
