• Typhoid Fever: It combats systemic infections triggered specifically by the Salmonella typhi bacteria.

Monocef-O 50 Oral Suspension contains cefpodoxime proxetil (50 MG). Here's how it works:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefpodoxime proxetil acts by binding to certain proteins (penicillin-binding proteins) found on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. These proteins are required for building the bacterial cell wall.
• Causes Cell Lysis: The binding process disrupts the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains, which are essential for maintaining cell wall strength and rigidity in bacteria. This weakening leads to damage or lysis (breakdown) of the bacterial cell wall.
• Prodrug Conversion: Cefpodoxime proxetil is a prodrug – it's initially inactive when taken, but once inside the body, it's converted into its active form, cefpodoxime. This conversion process happens in the gastrointestinal tract after the medicine is given.

• Store the dry powder of Monocef-O 50 Oral Suspension at room temperature, away from light and dampness.
• After preparing the suspension with water, place it in the fridge.
• Store protected from moisture,
• at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
• Keep the bottle tightly closed and make sure it's out of reach of children.
• Discard any leftover suspension after 14 days.
