Monotrate SR 30 Tablet is used to help prevent angina attacks (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart) in adults. It contains isosorbide mononitrate, a nitrate, in a sustained-release form, and helps you carry out daily activities with greater comfort by reducing the frequency of chest pain episodes.
Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Take it as prescribed and do not stop taking it suddenly. Do not take medicines for erectile dysfunction, such as sildenafil, together with this medicine, as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
A heart-healthy lifestyle helps reduce angina triggers. Quitting smoking, following a low-fat diet, staying active within the limits your doctor advises, and managing stress all support better heart health.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, severe anaemia, or other heart conditions, and about all other medicines you are taking. Tell your doctor if your chest pain is not improving or becomes more frequent. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
