Montaz 1 g Injection is used to treat various bacterial infections like pneumonia, ear infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections. It also helps manage serious infections such as blood poisoning (sepsis), bone and joint infections, abdominal infections, and bacterial meningitis. Additionally, it is effective in preventing infections after surgery and for patients with low white blood cell counts who are more prone to infections.

Aristo Montaz Injection is administered intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

This medicine contains two active ingredients:

• Ceftriaxone (1000 mg): This component acts by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. These PBPs are enzymes involved in assembling the bacterial cell wall and reshaping it during growth and division. When ceftriaxone binds to PBPs, it inhibits the linking of peptidoglycan chains that are essential for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. The weakening of the bacterial cell wall leads to cell lysis.

• Tazobactam (125 mg): Tazobactam works by inhibiting beta-lactamases secreted by certain bacteria which usually inactivate beta-lactam antibiotics like ceftriaxone. By combining tazobactam with ceftriaxone, it protects ceftriaxone from being broken down by these bacterial enzymes, hence extending the antibiotic spectrum of ceftriaxone to include many beta-lactamase-producing bacteria that have acquired resistance to ceftriaxone alone.
