CompositionMucolite Drops is used to manage a productive (wet) cough with thick mucus and other respiratory conditions marked by excessive mucus in children. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ambroxol, which is a mucolytic (a medicine that helps loosen thick mucus).
This medicine is beneficial in several acute and chronic respiratory conditions with abnormal mucus, including bronchitis, chronic obstructive airway disease, respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, laryngitis, tracheitis and sinusitis, and bronchial asthma with difficulty coughing up mucus. It is also used for acute sore throat. Give this medicine to your child with or after food, shaking the bottle well before use and measuring the drops with the dropper provided. Give the dose and duration prescribed by your child's doctor.
Encouraging your child to drink plenty of fluids and keeping the surrounding air humid can help loosen mucus further alongside this medicine.
Before starting this medicine, tell your child's doctor about any health conditions your child has, such as stomach ulcers, liver or kidney problems, and about any other medicines your child is taking. Do not give other cough or cold medicines to your child at the same time unless the doctor advises you to do so. This medicine is meant for a wet cough, so consult your child's doctor if the cough is dry, does not improve or gets worse. Stop and seek medical help if your child develops a serious skin reaction or signs of an allergic reaction. Tell your child's doctor about any side effects you notice. Do not stop giving this medicine unless your child's doctor advises you to do so.
