Nicostar 5 Tablet is used to prevent and treat heart-related chest pain (angina). This medicine contains Nicorandil, a potassium channel activator that works by widening both the coronary arteries and the peripheral blood vessels. It improves blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscle, making it an effective option, especially when other anti-anginal treatments have proven inadequate.

Nicostar 5 Tablet contains Nicorandil (5 MG), which works within the body as follows:

• Opens ATP-sensitive Potassium Channels: Nicorandil functions by increasing potassium ion permeability; it opens up ATP-sensitive potassium channels leading to vascular smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation in the coronary arteries.
• Stimulates Guanylate Cyclase: Nicorandil acts similarly to nitrates by stimulating guanylate cyclase and increasing intracellular cyclic GMP (cGMP). This process causes vasodilation of both arterial and venous vessels.

• Keep Nicostar 5 Tablet in a dry place, protected from light.
• Maintain an ideal storage temperature between 2°C to 8°C.
• Don't free the medicine.
