Nitrocontin 6.4 Tablet CR is used for the prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris in adults with coronary artery disease, helping to reduce the frequency and severity of chest pain attacks.
It contains glyceryl trinitrate CR (6.4 mg) in a controlled-release form. Take it as prescribed; swallow whole and do not crush or chew to maintain the controlled-release effect. It is for prevention, not for the immediate relief of a sudden chest pain attack.
Keeping to all monitoring appointments and managing known angina triggers support better symptom control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any low blood pressure, severe anaemia or recent use of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors before starting. This medicine must not be taken with erectile dysfunction medicines (PDE-5 inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil), as the combination causes a significant drop in blood pressure. To reduce tolerance, your doctor may prescribe a nitrate-free period each day.
