CompositionOcupol Eye Ointment 5Gm is used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis (pink eye) and corneal infections such as corneal ulcers. It reduces redness, discharge, irritation, and discomfort, and promotes healing of infected eye tissue.
It contains polymyxin B and Chloramphenicol, two antibiotics that work together to destroy a broad range of bacteria responsible for eye infections. Polymyxin B disrupts bacterial cell membranes, while neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, providing complementary antibacterial action.
Apply a small strip of ointment inside the lower eyelid as directed. Wash your hands before and after application, and avoid touching the tube tip to the eye or any surface to prevent contamination. Contact lenses should not be worn during treatment.
Temporary blurred vision after application is normal and should clear quickly. Discontinue use and consult your doctor if irritation increases, redness worsens, or you develop an allergic reaction.
