Ocupol DX Eye Ointment is a combination eye medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections with significant inflammation, such as bacterial conjunctivitis and blepharitis. It helps relieve eye redness, swelling, itching, and discharge caused by these conditions.
This ointment contains chloramphenicol and polymyxin B, two antibiotics that work together against a wide range of bacteria, along with dexamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces swelling and inflammation in the eye tissue. Apply it inside the lower eyelid as directed, and continue the full course even if your symptoms improve early.
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the ointment, avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment, and protect your eyes from bright light or dust. Keep the tube tightly closed between uses to maintain sterility.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a viral or fungal eye infection, glaucoma, or a history of raised eye pressure. Ensure the tube tip never touches your eye or eyelashes. Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
