Trihexyphenidyl (2 Mg)

Pacitane 2mg tablet belongs to the anti-muscarinic group of drugs. It is mainly indicated for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. It is a nervous system disorder that causes movement, muscle control, and balance difficulties.
By function, Pacitane 2mg tablet is anti-cholinergic. It inhibits the parasympathetic nervous system and relieves muscle spasms. It sits on the muscarinic receptor and blocks the effects of chemicals like acetylcholine. It is indicated to treat the side effects of Parkinson’s disease, which include tremors, difficulty in walking, and muscle tone changes, leading to a long time to stand and walk.
The Pacitane tablet composition is; each uncoated tablet of pacitane containing trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride 2mg. Pacitane 2mg tablet is indicated for all types of Parkinson’s disease. Pacitane 2mg tablet has stimulant and euphoric properties, which means abuse is possible, so the use and indications should be done accordingly.

Pacitane 2mg tablet is an anti-cholinergic medication. It shows the action by inhibiting the action of a chemical messenger called cholinergic acid. This improves muscle control and reduces stiffness in all types of Parkinson’s disease.
Pacitane 2mg tablet acts on parasympathetic nerves. The action of parasympathetic nerves is seen in organs like salivary glands, smooth muscles and eyes. The effect is seen as increased saliva secretion, eye tear production, and close-radius vision.

Pregnancy

It is unsafe during pregnancy. In general, pacitane 2mg tablet is not referred to during pregnancy. Only if the potential benefits for the mother justify the unknown risk to the foetus, it is indicated in the pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Pacitane tablets may suppress milk production. Only if the benefit to the mother is present and there is no potential risk to infant pacitane should it be recommended during breastfeeding.

Alcohol

Alcohol may add up to the existing pacitane 2mg tablet effects. So it should be avoided.

Liver

Patients with impaired liver function should be monitored. At the same time, taking pacitane tablets since side effects may increase due to a reduction in the metabolism of pacitane.

Kidney

Patients with impaired renal function should be monitored carefully while taking pacitane tablets since side effects may increase due to a reduction in the metabolism of pacitane.

Using Machines & Driving

Pacitane 2mg tablet may impair mental & physical conditions like reduced alertness, drowsiness, sleepiness, blurring of vision, and mental confusion using machines, and driving with these effects may be hazardous.

Allergy

The safety and effectiveness of pacitane 2mg tablet in children are not established, so it should not be used in children.

Children

The Pacitane tablets regimen is started with a low dose by a doctor for older people. The sensitivity of pacitane increases with age, significantly above 60. Caution is required for older adults with central nervous system diseases.

Daily Dose

The recommended dosage of Pacitane 2mg tablet is one or two tablets, as directed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to the treatment. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed the dosage without a doctor’s consultation.

Over Dose

If someone takes an excessive amount of pacitane 2mg tablet by accident. Approach the nearest doctor or hospital. Symptoms of an overdose of pacitane are mainly fever. Other symptoms are confusion, drowsiness, sleepiness, hallucinations and agitation.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take pacitane 2mg tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If the time to take the next dosage is close, do not take the missed dose now.
Just continue with the following dosage time routine.
Only increase the dosage after consulting the doctor.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
Keep pacitane 2mg tablet away from children.
Avoid storing it in extremes of temperature, i.e. freezing and temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date has passed away.

Maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly: Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise have shown positive effects on the prognosis of Parkinson's disease. A diet having berries, omega-3 fatty acids and green leafy vegetables have antioxidant property and will help in brain function.
Include a diet rich in iron, folate and magnesium: These minerals and vitamins will help recover from malnutrition, which is common in Parkinson's.
Practice yoga & Meditation: Practising yoga and meditation techniques are a good way to keep the brain and physical health at their best. These techniques ensure that the symptoms of Parkinson's, mental or physical, are reduced.
Follow a healthy and regular pattern of sleep: As the disease itself causes disrupted sleep behaviour. Ensure a healthy and regular sleep pattern which will provide symptomatic relief.
Avoid smoking & alcohol consumption: Smoking and alcohol may add up to the action of pacitane 2mg tablets. So, it is best to avoid it.

Maintain a gap of at least two hours when taking certain medications like ketoconazole and anti-diarrhoeal medicines. It will ensure the complete absorption of Pacitane tablets.
Pacitane tablets cause high body temperatures due to less sweating. This side effect is more profound in hot temperature regions, so drink plenty of fluids.
Take special care with dental-related issues.
