Pentaloc 40 Tablet is used to treat severe heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), and stomach ulcers. It is also used to protect the stomach in patients who must take long-term painkillers that might cause bleeding. This medication acts as a "reset button" for your stomach's acid levels, allowing the lining of the food pipe and stomach to heal from painful erosions.
This medication contains Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by permanently disabling the "acid pumps" (proton pumps) in the stomach lining for a period of time. This significantly lowers the amount of acid produced, which stops the burning sensation in the chest and prevents further damage to the digestive tract.
This tablet should be taken on an empty stomach, ideally 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Consult your doctor if you need to take this for more than a few weeks, as long-term use can sometimes affect bone strength or vitamin levels.
