Periset Strawberry Flavour Syrup 30ml

Periset Syrup is used for the following:

• Managing nausea and vomiting linked to highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy in children older than 6 months

• Controlling nausea and vomiting associated with moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy in children 6 months of age

• Preventing nausea and vomiting related to radiotherapy

• Alleviating post-operative nausea and vomiting in children who are at least 1 month old

Give Periset Syrup to your child as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before giving it to your child to ensure the ingredients are well mixed.

• Always keep the bottle tightly closed after use.

• This medicine is sugar-based and needs caution for use in diabetic children. If your child has diabetes, consult your doctor before giving them this medicine.

Periset Syrup is given orally.

Periset Syrup contains ondansetron (2 mg) as its sole active ingredient. This component acts on your child's body in the following ways:

• Blocks serotonin 5-HT3 receptors: Ondansetron works by selectively blocking these receptors in your child's body.

• Prevents nausea and vomiting: By blocking these receptors, ondansetron stops serotonin from stimulating the vomiting centre in your child's brain, thereby effectively managing nausea and vomiting symptoms.

• Store Periset Syrup at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture to maintain its efficacy.

• Ensure the syrup is kept securely closed when not in use to prevent exposure to air.

• Keep the medicine out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion.

• Always check the expiration date mentioned on the package, and ensure that you use the syrup before this date.

• Since Periset Syrup is given to manage nausea and vomiting in your child, offer them small, frequent meals instead of large ones. This can help lessen feelings of nausea.

• Encourage your child to rest or take short naps between meals. Activity after eating may increase feelings of nausea.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, as dehydration can worsen nausea symptoms. However, avoid giving drinks immediately before or after meals to prevent filling the stomach too quickly.
