PTH 30 Tablet is used to lower a high level of parathyroid hormone and calcium in the blood. It is used for overactive parathyroid glands in people with chronic kidney disease on dialysis, in parathyroid gland cancer, and in severe primary overactivity when surgery is not possible.
It contains cinacalcet, a calcimimetic. It works by making the parathyroid glands more sensitive to calcium, which lowers the parathyroid hormone they release and, in turn, the calcium in the blood.
Take it with food or shortly after a meal, swallowing the tablet whole, as prescribed. Your doctor will check your calcium and parathyroid hormone with blood tests.
Tell your doctor about any seizures or low calcium before use. Report numbness or tingling, muscle cramps or twitching, which can be signs that calcium has fallen too low.
