Rapilif 8 Tablet is used to manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in adults to enhance urinary flow and bladder emptying. This medication helps alleviate a weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, and the sensation of incomplete emptying by improving flow and overall urinary comfort.

Take the Rapilif 8 tablet with a glass of water.
Swallow the tablet as a whole, do not crush or chew it.
It should be taken preferably with meals.
Rapilif 8 tablet is recommended to be taken at a fixed time daily.

Rapilif 8 tablet should be taken orally.

Rapilif 8 Tablet may cause retrograde ejaculation, diarrhea, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, stuffy or runny nose, headache, nasopharyngitis, fatigue, and temporary nasal discomfort.

Managing the Side Effects:

The side effects of Rapilif 8 tablet are usually mild and often do not require urgent medical attention. The side effects are more manageable with time. However, if the side effects persist, worsen or any other symptom other than that listed above occurs, inform your doctor immediately.

Rapilif 8 tablet contains Silodosin (8mg) as the active ingredient :

It works by blocking the alpha 1A type of adrenoceptors located in the prostate gland, urethra and urinary bladder. The blockage leads to the relaxation of smooth muscles located in these locations thus, easing urinary flow.

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol consumption while on Rapilif 8 tablet as it can aggravate the orthostatic hypotension caused by this medicine.

Liver

Rapilif 8 tablet should not be given to patients with severe liver disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate liver disease after consultation with a doctor.

Kidney

Rapilif 8 tablet should not be given to patients with severe kidney disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate kidney disease after consultation with a doctor.

Using Machines & Driving

Rapilif 8 tablet can cause postural hypotension and dizziness which can impair driving and machine operating capability. Refrain from such activities while you are taking this medication.

Allergy

If you are allergic to Rapilif 8 tablet or any of its constituents then do not take it.

Children

Rapilif 8 tablet is not indicated for use in paediatric patients (<18 years of age).

Older Patients

Rapilif 8 tablet is to be used with caution in elderly patients with liver or kidney disease as they usually need dose adjustment after consultation from a doctor.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Rapilif 8 tablet interact with the following medicines:

Antifungals like itraconazole and ketoconazole should not be taken with this medicine as it will increase the effect of Rapilif 8 tablet.
Blood pressure-lowering medicines like verapamil, and diltiazem can aggravate Orthostatic Hypotension caused by Rapilif 8 tablet.
Antivirals like ritonavir decrease the metabolism of this medicine and increase its effect and side effects
Immune-suppressing drugs like cyclosporine should not be given with this medicine.
Antibiotics like clarithromycin and erythromycin- should not be used with this medicine as they increase the effect of Rapilif 8 tablet.
Erectile dysfunction medicines like tadalafil and sildenafil (PDE-5 inhibitors) increase the side effects like orthostatic hypotension, dizziness, etc

Rapilif 8 tablet interact with the following foods:

Consumption of high-fat or moderate-calorie meals can reduce the plasma concentration of this medicine and thus reduce its effect.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Rapilif 8 tablet interacts with the following diseases:

Severe kidney diseases- can be aggravated
Severe liver diseases- can be worsened

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Rapilif 8 tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of Rapilif 8 tablet by accident, inform your doctor immediately and follow his advice. The overdose symptoms of Rapilif 8 Tablets are dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness and blurred vision. Be vigilant and do not ignore these symptoms.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take the Rapilif 8 tablet, take it as soon as you remember it. If the time for the next dosage is close, skipping the missed one and resuming your regular dosage pattern is recommended.

Store this medicine at room temperature (15-25ºC).
Protect it from light and moisture.
Keep it away from children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

Reduce the intake of substances that increase diuresis like coffee, and alcohol.
Perform regular pelvic exercises for symptomatic relief.
In case of anticipated eye surgery for cataracts, or glaucoma, inform the doctor about your consumption of this medicine.
Get your PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) levels checked regularly to rule out the development of cancer in the Prostate gland as well as to document improvement in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.
