CompositionR B Tone Injection is an iron replacement medicine used to treat iron deficiency anaemia in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is a single-ingredient medicine containing iron sucrose, and belongs to a class of medicines called iron replacement products.
This medicine works by replenishing the body's depleted iron stores, so the body can make more red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body. It is used in people with CKD who are on haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, and in those with CKD who are not on dialysis. This injection is given by a doctor or healthcare professional.
Attend your regular blood tests so your doctor can check your haemoglobin and iron levels and adjust the treatment as needed. Tell the healthcare team if you feel unwell during or after the injection.
Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to an iron injection or any other medicine, and about all other medicines and supplements you take. Seek help straight away if you develop a rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing.
