Renicol Eye Drops is used for the management of the following health conditions:

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above your eye and instill the prescribed amount of drops into this pocket.

• Close your eyes for 2 to 3 minutes after administration.

Renicol Eye Drops contain three active ingredients that work together to manage eye infections:

• Chloramphenicol (0.5% w/v): This broad-spectrum antibiotic inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It binds reversibly to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria and prevents peptide bond formation, thereby stopping bacterial growth.

• Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) (0.25% w/v): This component acts as a viscosity enhancer. By increasing the thickness of the drops, HPMC helps to keep the medication on the eye surface for longer periods.

• Phenylmercuric nitrate (0.002% w/v): This ingredient acts as an antimicrobial preservative, ensuring that the formulation remains sterile and free from harmful microbes during its shelf life.
