Renopress-XL-5 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and heart failure. It also helps alleviate symptoms related to Raynaud’s disease and sleep problems associated with PTSD, by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Renopress XL-5 Tablet contains prazosin (5 mg) and works in the body as follows:

• Alpha-1 Receptor Blockade: Prazosin acts by obstructing norepinephrine action on alpha-1 receptors present in the smooth muscles of your blood vessels. Norepinephrine is a hormone that causes contractions in blood vessels, thus raising blood pressure.

• Blood Vessel Relaxation: By blocking the action of norepinephrine, prazosin promotes the widening or dilation of blood vessels, called vasodilation. This results in reduced resistance to blood flow and lowers your blood pressure.

• Sustained Medicine Release: As an extended-release formulation, prazosin allows for a gradual and consistent release of the medicine into your bloodstream. This means that it gives lasting control over high blood pressure with fewer daily doses compared to the immediate-release forms.
