Renopress-XL-5 Tablet is used to lower high blood pressure, to relieve the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia), and sometimes to ease the finger and toe symptoms of Raynaud's disease. The extended-release form gives a steady effect through the day.
It contains prazosin, an alpha-blocker, in an extended-release form. It works by relaxing the blood vessels and the muscle around the prostate and bladder neck.
Swallow the tablet whole without crushing it. Take the first dose at bedtime, and rise slowly from sitting or lying down, as it can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure at first.
Tell your doctor about any low blood pressure, heart problems or kidney disease before use. Stay well hydrated and avoid prolonged standing or hot baths in the early days. Report fainting, a marked drop in blood pressure on standing, or unusual mood changes.
