CompositionRozavel 40 Tablet is used to lower very high cholesterol in adults at high risk of heart disease when lower doses have not been enough. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing rosuvastatin 40mg, the highest strength of this statin.
This strength is used only under close medical supervision, usually for severe or inherited high cholesterol that has not been controlled on 20mg. It lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides and helps slow the build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries. Take it once a day at the same time, with or without food, as prescribed.
A heart-healthy diet low in saturated fat, regular activity, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol work alongside this medicine to protect your heart.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, an underactive thyroid, muscle problems, diabetes, or drink a lot of alcohol, and about other medicines you take, especially ciclosporin, fibrates, blood thinners and HIV medicines. People of Asian origin may have higher blood levels of rosuvastatin, so the dose is chosen carefully. The risk of muscle side effects is higher at this dose, so doctors use this strength with particular caution in people of Asian origin and those with kidney problems. Your doctor will check your blood tests. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine, straight away. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
