CompositionSilverex SSD Cream is used to prevent and treat infection in burn wounds. It is a combination medicine containing silver sulfadiazine, an antibacterial, and chlorhexidine gluconate, an antiseptic, and belongs to a group of medicines called topical anti-infectives.
This medicine is also used to help prevent infection in skin wounds, leg ulcers and skin graft sites. Clean the wound as advised, then apply a thin, even layer of cream with a sterile glove or applicator, as directed by your doctor. Continue for the full time prescribed.
Keeping the wound clean, changing dressings as advised, avoiding tight clothing over the area and eating a protein-rich diet can support healing.
This cream is for use on the skin only. Before using it, tell your doctor if you are allergic to sulfa medicines, have G6PD deficiency, or have liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines you use. It is not usually recommended in late pregnancy or for newborn babies. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Report spreading redness, increased pain, fever, a rash or unusual skin colour changes to your doctor. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
