Silverex SSD Cream is used for the following:

• Prevention and management of infections in second-degree burns

• Infection control in third-degree burns

• Accelerating healing process in burn wounds

• Treatment of infected skin ulcers

• Management of abrasions susceptible to infection

• Healing other skin lesions prone to bacterial growth

To use Silverex SSD Cream correctly, follow these steps:

• Ensure the burn wound or affected area is clean and dry before application.

• Apply a thin layer of the cream to the wound using sterile gloves or a spatula.

• Make sure to cover the whole surface of the burn with the cream.

• If required, dressings can be placed over the applied cream.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream.

Silverex SSD Cream is applied topically.

Silverex SSD Cream includes two active ingredients:

• Silver Sulfadiazine (0.5%): This antibiotic inhibits bacterial growth by interfering with folate synthesis required for DNA and RNA formation. It blocks the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS), preventing the incorporation of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) into dihydrofolic acid. Silver ions released from this compound also contribute to its bactericidal effects.

• Chlorhexidine Gluconate (0.2%): Acting as an antiseptic and disinfectant, chlorhexidine gluconate binds strongly to bacterial cell walls and membranes. It disrupts the cell surface which leads to leakage of internal components causing cell death. It's effective against a wide range of bacteria including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, some fungi, and viruses.

• Store Silverex SSD Cream at room temperature, not exceeding 30°C.

• Keep the tube tightly sealed when not in use to prevent exposure to air and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children for safety.

• Since Silverex SSD Cream manages burn injuries, it's important you maintain a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals to support skin healing. Foods like fish, lean meat, eggs, fruits, and vegetables can help.
