CompositionSyntran SB 130 Capsule is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, throat, vagina and internal organs. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing itraconazole in a highly absorbed (super bioavailable) form, and belongs to a class of medicines called azole antifungals.
This medicine is often used for widespread or stubborn skin fungal infections (dermatophytosis), such as ringworm, jock itch and athlete's foot, as well as fungal nail infections, thrush and some serious fungal infections of the lungs. This form is absorbed better than standard itraconazole, so it is not interchangeable with other itraconazole capsules. Swallow the capsule whole with food, in the dose and for the full course prescribed by your doctor.
Keep the skin clean and dry, especially in skin folds, wear loose cotton clothing, and wash towels and clothes regularly. Family members with similar rashes should also be checked, as fungal skin infections spread easily.
Do not take this medicine for skin or nail infections if you have heart failure. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart, liver or kidney disease, and about all other medicines you take, as this medicine interacts with many others. Women should use effective contraception during treatment and until their next period after finishing, and should tell their doctor if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice breathlessness, swollen legs, unusual tiredness, dark urine or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
