Syntran SB 65 Capsule is used for managing the following conditions:

• Pulmonary and extrapulmonary blastomycosis: This refers to a fungal infection caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis, which can affect different parts of your body, including your lungs and skin.

• Chronic cavitary pulmonary disease and disseminated non-meningeal histoplasmosis: These are types of fungal infections caused by Histoplasma capsulatum, affecting your lungs and sometimes spreading to other parts of your body.

• Pulmonary and extrapulmonary aspergillosis in patients intolerant of or refractory to amphotericin B: This is a condition caused by Aspergillus, a type of fungus that primarily affects your lungs.

Here's how you should take Syntran SB 65 Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not chew or crush it.

• Take the capsules at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in your body.

Syntran SB 65 Capsule contains itraconazole (65 mg). Here's how it works:

• Lanosterol 14α-demethylase inhibition: Itraconazole targets an enzyme called lanosterol 14α-demethylase, essential for creating ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane.

• Ergosterol Depletion: By inhibiting lanosterol 14α-demethylase, the medicine disrupts ergosterol production, leading to a deficiency in the fungal cell membrane. This compromises the structure and function of the cell membrane.

• Accumulation of 14α-methylsterols: Along with disrupting ergosterol production, this medicine causes a buildup of 14α-methylsterols in the fungal cells, further damaging the cell membrane. This activity is generally fungistatic (inhibiting fungal growth), but can become fungicidal (killing fungi) at higher concentrations.

• Keep Syntran SB 65 Capsule at a cool temperature between 15°C to 30°C.

• Avoid storing the medicine in direct light or damp areas.
