Telsar 20 Tablet is used for managing essential hypertension in adults. It is also key for reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients 55 years or older who are at a high risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. It is suitable for patients who cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting it.

Telsar 20 Tablet contains telmisartan (20 mg) and works in the following ways:

• Blocks Angiotensin II Receptor: Telmisartan specifically blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor subtype. Angiotensin II, when bound to the receptor, causes blood vessels to narrow and prompts the release of aldosterone, a hormone that causes your kidneys to retain sodium and water.

• Reduces Blood Pressure: By blocking the effects of angiotensin II, telmisartan relaxes and widens your blood vessels. This reduces the resistance against which your heart has to pump blood, decreasing your blood pressure.

• Causes Vasodilation: Through its action, telmisartan promotes vasodilation or widening of your blood vessels. This further aids in reducing your blood pressure.

• Does Not Affect Heart Rate: Unlike some other blood pressure medicines, telmisartan does not significantly affect your heart rate but it works on reducing your blood pressure.
