CompositionTelsar Beta 25 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, especially when a single medicine has not controlled it well enough. It is a combination medicine containing telmisartan 40mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and metoprolol succinate 25mg, an extended-release beta blocker.
Telmisartan relaxes and widens the blood vessels, while metoprolol slows the heart rate and reduces the force of each heartbeat. Together they lower blood pressure in two different ways. Take it once a day at the same time, swallowed whole without crushing or chewing, and continue even when you feel well.
A low-salt diet, staying active within your limits, keeping a healthy weight, limiting alcohol and not smoking support blood pressure control.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, as it can harm an unborn baby; tell your doctor straight away if you become pregnant. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this can cause chest pain, a fast heartbeat or a heart attack; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Before starting, also tell your doctor if you have asthma or other breathing problems, a slow heartbeat or heart block, uncontrolled heart failure, very low blood pressure, severe circulation problems, diabetes, liver disease or thyroid problems, and about other medicines you take. It can hide the warning signs of low blood sugar. Your doctor may check your kidney function and potassium. Seek medical help for wheezing, a very slow heartbeat, fainting or worsening breathlessness. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
