Thyrox 50 Tablet is used to treat hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) in adults and children, and to support thyroid hormone replacement after thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment. It helps restore normal thyroid hormone levels in the body, easing symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain and low mood.
It contains thyroxine sodium (levothyroxine). Take it on an empty stomach in the morning, at least 30 minutes before food, at the same time each day. Do not switch brands without your doctor's advice, and take it as prescribed even if you feel well, since hormone levels need to stay steady.
Keeping to all blood test appointments to monitor thyroid function is an important part of treatment. If you also take calcium, iron supplements or antacids, leave a gap of at least four hours between these and Thyrox, as they can reduce its absorption.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, adrenal gland problems or osteoporosis. Report a fast or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, excessive sweating or persistent nervousness to your doctor promptly.
