Topaz 50 Tablet is used to treat epilepsy, including focal and generalised seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, in adults and children, and to help prevent migraine in adults.
It contains topiramate, an anti-epileptic. It works by steadying the electrical activity in the brain, which reduces seizures and migraine triggers.
Take it with or without food, swallowing the tablet whole, and do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures. Drink plenty of fluids to reduce the risk of kidney stones.
Do not use it in pregnancy unless your doctor advises. Tell your doctor about any kidney stones, glaucoma or liver problems before use. Report blurred vision or eye pain straight away, as these need urgent review.
