UDP-AT Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure, known medically as hypertension

• Preventing episodes of chest pain caused by heart disease, a condition known as angina pectoris

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• It's important to take it at the same time each day to ensure consistency.

• Never change the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

UDP-AT Tablet is taken orally.

UDP-AT Tablet contains two active ingredients which work in conjunction to reduce blood pressure:

• Amlodipine (5 mg): This medicine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the walls of your arteries, which reduces the resistance in your peripheral vascular system and lowers your blood pressure. It does this by acting on L-type calcium channels in the smooth muscle cells of your blood vessels, inhibiting the influx of extracellular calcium. This leads to vasodilation, or widening of the blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure.

• Atenolol (50 mg): Atenolol is a selective β1 receptor antagonist, also known as a beta-blocker. Its primary action is on the heart, where it reduces the force and speed of your heartbeat. It does this by blocking the action of hormones like norepinephrine and epinephrine on the β1 receptors in your heart. This reduces the overall output of your heart, thus lowering your blood pressure. It also helps reduce the oxygen demand of your heart, making it effective in managing angina pectoris.

The combination of amlodipine and atenolol results in a synergistic effect, providing more effective blood pressure control by acting on different physiological pathways.

• Keep UDP-AT Tablet in its original package to protect from light and moisture.

• Maintain a storage temperature below 30°C.

• Store in a safe place, out of sight and reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date on the pack before use.

• Limit your salt intake. High-sodium foods can increase blood pressure, potentially making hypertension worse. It's good to cut down on processed foods, which often contain hidden salts.

• A routine of gentle exercises like walking or swimming can help manage high blood pressure and reduce the frequency of angina attacks. Remember to consult your doctor before starting any new exercise regimen.
