Xarelto 20 mg Tablet is used to prevent and treat dangerous blood clots including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and to reduce the risk of stroke in people with an irregular heart rhythm (non-valvular atrial fibrillation).
It contains rivaroxaban, a direct anticoagulant. Take it with the evening meal as prescribed to improve absorption. Do not stop it without medical advice, as stopping suddenly increases the risk of a serious clot. Some dosing schedules require taking it with food; follow your doctor's guidance.
While taking an anticoagulant, take care to reduce the chance of bleeding. Use a soft toothbrush, take care with sharp objects, and tell any doctor, dentist, or pharmacist that you take this medicine before any procedure or new treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, liver or kidney disease, or antiphospholipid syndrome, and about all other medicines. Tell your doctor straight away about any unusual or serious bleeding. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
