CompositionYamini Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill used primarily to prevent unintended pregnancy. It is also prescribed to regulate the menstrual cycle, reduce menstrual discomfort such as painful cramps, lighten heavy periods, and manage moderate acne or premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in women.
It contains two synthetic female hormones: drospirenone (a progestogen) and ethinylestradiol (an oestrogen). These components work by preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries, thickening the cervical mucus to block sperm, and altering the uterine lining to prevent a fertilized egg from attaching.
To ensure maximum contraceptive efficacy, take one tablet daily at the same time for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day pill-free interval during which a withdrawal bleed usually occurs. It is vital not to skip doses, as missing a pill significantly increases the risk of pregnancy.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you smoke, are over 35 years old, or have a history of blood clots, high blood pressure, liver disorders, or breast cancer. It is not suitable for use if you are already pregnant and is generally not recommended while breastfeeding. Regular check-ups with your doctor are recommended while taking this pill.
