CompositionEvaq Plus Oral Suspension is used to relieve constipation, particularly when linked to piles or anal fissures, and to ease heartburn and indigestion. It is a combination medicine containing liquid paraffin, a stool softener and lubricant, magnesium hydroxide, which draws water into the bowel and neutralises stomach acid, and sodium picosulphate, a stimulant that moves stools along, and belongs to a class of medicines called laxative combinations.
This medicine works by lubricating and softening stools, drawing water into the bowel, and stimulating the bowel muscles to move stools along, while also helping neutralise stomach acid. Shake the bottle well and measure the dose with the measuring cup or device provided. It may also be used for bowel cleansing before procedures such as a colonoscopy, as advised by your doctor.
Drink plenty of water, eat more fibre such as fruit, vegetables, and whole grains, and stay physically active to support regular bowel movements. Do not rely on laxatives for a long time, as regular use without advice can make the bowel dependent on them.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a blocked bowel, appendicitis, severe stomach pain, or kidney problems, and about all other medicines or supplements you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended for children, and people over 70 years of age should use it only under medical supervision. Continuous use may cause dependency and an imbalance of body salts, so get urgent medical help for severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, or bleeding from the back passage.
