Dosage Forms Available

• Amlodipine + Losartan is available via the oral route in the form of tablets.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is primarily meant for adults. The safety and effectiveness of Amlodipine + Losartan in children have not been established.

Contraindications

• Amlodipine + Losartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component of the medicine. It should not be used by patients with severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, or bilateral renal artery stenosis (a condition that occurs when one or both of the renal arteries narrow).

Other Medications to Avoid

• Amlodipine + Losartan may interact with other blood pressure treating medicines (e.g., lisinopril, ramipril), pain killers (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) and heart-related medicines (e.g., metoprolol, nitroglycerin).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Amlodipine + Losartan may result in low blood pressure, palpitations (abnormal heart rhythm), or potentially serious kidney problems. If an overdose is suspected, immediate medical attention should be sought.
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regularly scheduled time. Do not double the dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For dizziness and lightheadedness, try to stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Amlodipine + Losartan may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you experience these symptoms after taking the medication.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Amlodipine + Losartan is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with heart failure or severe aortic stenosis (a heart condition that occurs when the aortic valve narrows, thickens, or stiffens), hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in the blood) and diabetes should also exercise caution when taking this medication.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Maintain a low-sodium diet to help lower your blood pressure.
• Limit alcohol intake as it can raise your blood pressure and increase the side effects of this medication.
