Amlodipine + Losartan is primarily used to manage high blood pressure in adults who have not responded adequately to monotherapy with either amlodipine or losartan. It is a combination of two types of medications, namely a calcium channel blocker and an angiotensin II receptor blocker.
Additionally, Losartan, one of the active ingredients in this combination, is indicated for reducing the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle of the left ventricle).
Dizziness
Lightheadedness (sensation of fainting)
Fatigue
Peripheral oedema (swelling in the legs, ankles or feet)
Nasal congestion
Amlodipine + Losartan is an antihypertensive combination medication.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by obstructing calcium's movement into your blood vessels' muscle cells. This makes the vessels relax and widen, which helps decrease your blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood.
Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by obstructing the effects of a natural substance called angiotensin II, which tightens blood vessels. This helps the vessels relax and widen, lowering blood pressure.
